Why did we start Expense Counselors?

It started with electricity. We received regular direct mail solicitations offering lower electricity rates every month. Hoping to save some money, we signed up for the offered promotional rate, and for nine months our bills were lower. When the promotional rate ended, our energy costs jumped. It took several months before we realized what had happened, at which point all of the savings were lost and we were paying a higher rate than before.

After researching the different companies, their promotional rates, cancellation fees and nuanced contract details, we were able to cut our electricity bills by 20%.
